CO2 emissions removed
from the environment

SERVCORP GOES GREEN

Servcorp contributes to reducing CO2 emissions.

Global Warming is one of the most serious challenges facing us today.

Increased concentrations of greenhouse gases in our atmosphere have meant that global warming and climate change are a reality.

Around the world, individuals, communities and corporations are realising the damage caused to Mother Earth and are looking at ways in which they can help protect her.

We must reduce our emissions of heat trapping gasses through an immediate, concerted approach.

Tree-planting is one of the ways to stem global warming because, through their growth process, trees absorb CO2, which is a major contributor to global warming.

These ‘green machines’ act as natural filters of the air. Trees absorb carbon dioxide from the atmosphere through the process of photosynthesis and store it while releasing oxygen back out into the air. Sustainable managed forests and urban forestry projects have multiple environmental and socio-economic functions that are important at a global, national and local level.

Servcorp has decided that it is time to give the environment a helping hand.

For every Virtual Office purchased online, Servcorp will plant a tree. It is that simple. To purchase a Virtual Office now go to Servcorp Virtual Office.

Servcorp will purchase and plant a tree in Australia on our Client’s behalf at NO cost to them. This is our small contribution to the environment.

Our plant a tree initiative is a first for our industry. Knowing the purchase of a Servcorp Virtual Office directly results in an environmental benefit, enables many individuals to make a Virtual decision.

The Virtual Office concept, pioneered by Servcorp nearly a decade ago is an environmentally friendly option for your office needs through the use of shared resources and less people commuting into city centres.

Servcorp leases almost 80,000 square metres of office space over 60 floors and our goal is to plant enough trees to cover this space by December 2008. We will do this by teaming up with Greenfleet and investing in their Australian projects to create forests in areas of environmental concern.

The good news is that for this generation’s global concerns – we, as individuals and corporations, can make a difference.

Top tips for saving energy at work

While we adopt the following practices in our offices you can adopt them at your home office:

  • Remove chargers from the power point (for mobile phones, laptops and so on) when they are not being used.
  • Activate energy saving options on PCs, photocopiers, printers and so on.
  • Turn office equipment off overnight and on weekends.
  • Turn televisions off at the power point rather than leaving them on standby.
  • Use double-sided printing where possible.
  • Switch off lights when you are vacating a room.
  • Keep doors and windows closed when the air-conditioning or heating is on.
  • Make use of paper recycling bins.
  • Only put dishwashers on when they are full.
  • Make sure heating and cooling units are well maintained – they don’t need to work as hard that way.
